The coach of the Bangladesh Cricket Team, Shane Jurgensen, has quit from his position. He made the BCB officials aware of his decision yesterday.
It has come as a big surprise for BCB. According to them, they were not expecting anything like this from the coach whose contract was going to expire after the ODI World Cup 2015.
It is believed that Jurgensen was not happy with some of the statements made by the higher BCB officials in the press of late about him and that’s why, he decided to resign.
However, Akram Khan who takes care of the cricket operations of BCB clarified that a meeting would be organized with Jurgensen soon.
Talking to the reporters, Akram said, “We have just received Shane’s letter. He has let us know that he doesn’t want to continue at his post. This is really surprising for us. We were expecting that he would stay until the completion of his contract.”
“I think he has taken the decision while being emotional. So, we would like to meet him once and try to convince him to carry on. Let’s see what happens.”
The performance of Bangladesh has not been that impressive in the recent past under Jurgensen. They lost to comparatively weaker teams like Afghanistan and Hong Kong in the Asia Cup and World T20 Championship respectively which left their fans completely shocked.
After that, some of the unsatisfied people from BCB criticized the coaching staff publicly which pissed Jurgensen off.
It would be good for Bangladesh if Jurgensen changes his mind because a series against India is coming up and you don’t want to go into such an important series with a new coach.
India will tour Bangladesh for 3 One Day internationals next month.
