Jasprit Bumrah became Star after Series with Australia

Jasprit Bumrah was not even in the original squad that India had named for the Australia limited-over tour, but, when the tour came to an end, he was almost a star.

The right arm fast bowler got the ball talking in Australia as he emerged as India’s highest wicket taker in the T20 series

He bowled yorkers in almost every game and what had been India’s main problem in the past, to leak runs in the death, he reduced that to a large extent along with the veteran Ashish Nehra.

Some of the Aussie batsmen had already played Bumrah in the Indian Premier League. So, the 22-year old was no mystery to them, but, still, he has that sort of action that no matter how many times you have played him in the past, he is still going to be tough for you to deal with.

Bumrah’s action is pretty unorthodox. His arms seem to be all over the place when he gets into the position to deliver the ball and as a batsman, it’s tricky to pick the length.

Also, he is quite smart. He uses the space in the crease well and always, looks to bamboozle the batsman.

Apart from the yorkers, he can slip in slower deliveries too in between and then, mixes it up well with the bouncers.

Bumrah has not played heaps of first class Cricket, but, he doesn’t let the batsman outsmart him and that’s what is nice to see from a young player.

If maybe, he gains a couple of yards of pace, which he is likely to do, he would be lethal with the white ball.

He has raised hopes for sure, the Gujju lad. Let’s see if he can live up to those hopes now.
