Thimphu School Tournament ends
The Month Long Thimphu District Schools cricket tournament ended with Motithang Higher Secondary School the winner in the Senior category and Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School champion in the Junior Category, the Tournament which is Organized by the Games and Sports Division in association with Bhutan cricket had had 4 schools from the Thimphu District participating.
The Tournament is divided into Senior Category and Junior Category where class 9 & 10 are group into Senior and class 7 & 8 into Junior Category. The Tournament started on the 22nd April 2007 and played final on 20th May 2007, all the matches were played in the Thimphu Cricket ground. The Schools participating are
The Tournament saw the emergence of new talents from all the school as they were literally exposed to the cricketing world with brilliant batting and bowling performance shown by the school players. The Final match saw the tense situation in both the category as in the senior category, Motithang after winning the toss elected to bat first in perfect sunny weather in the morning to put on a decent total for the experienced

The Senior match saw a nearly turn over towards the end with 6 balls remains and 12 runs to win and a two wickets remains with Tashi Pelay batting beautiful in the crease on 18 as he whacked the first ball towards the boundary for 4 runs and to add another in the 3 ball, the score now is 4 ball from three runs, Motithang Tashi bowled with his heart out to get rid of the Dangerous Tashi Pelay bowled out for 26 runs, the last wicket took the toll when a brilliant run out by Motithang players to clinch the senior Championship.
The junior category also saw both the School locked in the win-loss situation towards the end with 75 runs on the board, Yangchenphu Junior school cemented the crease with some classic cover drive and lofted shot towards the mid on area as the Motithang bowler couldn’t restrict the flow of extras in wide and byes, the situation saw both the school in win position when Yangchenphu needing just 8 runs from 6 balls, with a four in the second ball and a twos runs in the third ball along with a wide, the score tied with Yangchenphu needing just one run to win from two ball, Nar Bahadur with all nervousness saw giving yet another wide to crown Yangchenphu School the Champion in the Junior Category and taking the revenge of the senior group.

The final saw few parents supporting their children and a good crowd of around 300 spectators watching, with the interest of the girls and ladies around, cricket is far most the active sports which caught the attention of the Bhutanese people.
In meanwhile, under-19 school tournament in sarpang district has started with two match played on saturday and sunday. A total of four school are participating in the tournament organized jointly by Sarpang District and Bhutan cricket. The Tournament gives a wider base for the Bhutan Cricket to choose players for the up coming Under-19 ACC trophy to be held later in Thailand, 2008.
