Virat Kohli was all praise for Cheteshwar Pujara

Virat Kohli was all praise for Cheteshwar Pujara after his back to back tons in the on-going test series against Sri Lanka.

According to Virat, Pujara’s efforts are more commendable because he is not someone who is in the Indian squad for limited-over Cricket.

So when the team plays 50-over and 20-over Cricket, he has to be out of action, but, he doesn’t relax during that gap and ensures that he keeps himself in great batting rhythm all the time.

Most of the batsmen, when they return to the international level after a gap, can’t quite find the middle of the bat straightaway, but, Pujara is really an exception. It doesn’t take him any time at all to start middling the balls. He delivers from the word go, regardless of how big a gap he has had between the two games, and that shows that he bats a lot even when he is not in the scenes which is why his timing and everything remains spot on. YUVRAJ – INDIA COMEBACK HAS HELPED ME

Cricket star Yuvraj Singh has credited his form in India’s limited over series as what pushed him to the match winning 62 off 27 during the opening game of 2017 the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sunrisers Hyderabad played Royal Challengers Bangalore as the new season kicked off on a high for Hyderabad.

The player was recalled to face England for the home ODI and T20 series matches in January. He had played in the World T20 the previous year but the form of the 2016/17 Ranji Trophy season helped his choice. At the three match ODI series, Yuvraj scored 210 runs, including 127 ball 150 in the second ODI meeting.

As the IPL resumed for a new season, Yuvraj made a record of the fastest fifty after 23 balls. Read more »

It seems there is not a perfect understanding between the Indian selectors

It seems there is not a perfect understanding between the Indian selectors and MS Dhoni in regards to fast bowling.

While, Dhoni is keen on the fact that the skilful bowlers should be given more exposure, the selectors want to back the speed.

The test squad that has been announced for the away Sri Lanka series includes the likes of Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron.

Umesh and Varun are, by no means, less talented than the other names in the Indian pace stocks, but, in the games that they have played so far, they have been quite erratic.

And, that’s why in Bangladesh, Dhoni, went public in expressing his disappointment at the development of those guys as fast bowlers.

Although, Dhoni did not directly take a dig at anyone, but, he did say a couple of times in that particular press conference that in the future he would like to see skill being given more preference over pace.

But, the way the selectors have again showed their confidence in genuine speed, one can assume that they do not quite agree with Dhoni on that front.

It was even asked to Sandeep Patil, the chairman of the BCCI selection committee, what he would like to make of Dhoni’s statements that he made in Bangladesh.

Replying to that, Patil hinted that he and his colleagues still have their faith intact in Umesh and Varun and regardless of what Dhoni said, these two guys are going to get more opportunities in future. Read more »

Kohli pretty vocal regarding the type of Cricket

Since the time Virat Kohli has taken charge of the Indian test side post the retirement of MS Dhoni, he has been pretty vocal regarding the type of Cricket that he wants his players to play.

He has put a lot of emphasis on the need of scorings runs quickly and giving the bowlers enough time to bowl out the opposition twice.

Also, he has made it clear that he is not interested at all in playing with 7 specialist batsman as he does not think it makes that much of a difference as far as winning the test matches are concerned. He would rather have an all round option in the side who can bowl a decent bit and give the strike bowlers a breather from time to time so that they remain fresh to bowl attacking spells at the crucial times.

And, he has been doing what he has been saying. He has talked about aggression and he has backed those players whom he believes can play with that sort of aggression and can help India win games.

Despite the fact that Rohit Sharma failed to even get to the two digits in the one off test match against Bangladesh and then at Galle where India suffered one of their most terrible defeats ever, he was not dropped. Read more »

Difficult for the Indian selectors to decide on Team

With Cheteshwar Pujara also scoring a century now, it has become quite difficult for the Indian selectors as well as the team management to decide what would be the playing XI of the team for the first test match against South Africa if all the players are fit.

So far in Virat Kohli’s short tenure as test captain, India has been playing with 5 specialist batsmen, an all rounder, a wicketkeeper batsman and 4 specialist bowlers and they are believed to continue with this formation for the home season too.

While, the likes of Murali Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli are the established members of the team and are the certainties in the XI, there are 4 players who are currently in contention for the other 2 batting spots and all of them have shown good form and have scored runs recently, whether it’s KL Rahul, Pujara, Shikhar Dhawan or even Rohit Sharma.

Rohit might not have a hundred to his name of late, but, he has scored a few crucial half centuries for the team.

Dhawan scored back to back hundreds against Bangladesh and then, in the first test match against Sri Lanka which was played at Galle.

KL Rahul, after justifying his selection for the Australia tour with a hundred in Sydney, scored another one in Colombo to help India level the series and has made it very hard for the management to leave him out at this point of time. Read more »

Umesh Yadav get criticism due to Irregular Line and Length

The experts always criticize Umesh Yadav for his tendency to lose line and length regularly.

As per the experts, Umesh tries to do too much when he is at bowling crease. In almost all his spells, he goes for more and more pace and thus, ends up falling on the pads of the batsman or giving him too much room.

But, in the Pakistan encounter yesterday in South Australia, Umesh showed how great an asset pace can prove to be.

The Nagpur bowler though started typically bowling some rubbish deliveries and giving easy runs away, but, he came back for his second spell in a very good rhythm.

The match was delicately poised at that time with Pakistan having crossed the 100 mark at the loss of only 2 wickets. Read more »
