Virat Kohli was all praise for Cheteshwar Pujara

Virat Kohli was all praise for Cheteshwar Pujara after his back to back tons in the on-going test series against Sri Lanka.

According to Virat, Pujara’s efforts are more commendable because he is not someone who is in the Indian squad for limited-over Cricket.

So when the team plays 50-over and 20-over Cricket, he has to be out of action, but, he doesn’t relax during that gap and ensures that he keeps himself in great batting rhythm all the time.

Most of the batsmen, when they return to the international level after a gap, can’t quite find the middle of the bat straightaway, but, Pujara is really an exception. It doesn’t take him any time at all to start middling the balls. He delivers from the word go, regardless of how big a gap he has had between the two games, and that shows that he bats a lot even when he is not in the scenes which is why his timing and everything remains spot on. YUVRAJ – INDIA COMEBACK HAS HELPED ME

Cricket star Yuvraj Singh has credited his form in India’s limited over series as what pushed him to the match winning 62 off 27 during the opening game of 2017 the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Sunrisers Hyderabad played Royal Challengers Bangalore as the new season kicked off on a high for Hyderabad.

The player was recalled to face England for the home ODI and T20 series matches in January. He had played in the World T20 the previous year but the form of the 2016/17 Ranji Trophy season helped his choice. At the three match ODI series, Yuvraj scored 210 runs, including 127 ball 150 in the second ODI meeting.

As the IPL resumed for a new season, Yuvraj made a record of the fastest fifty after 23 balls. Read more »

Bhuvneshwar Kumar is someone who has had the edge over Chris Gayle

The Indian fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is someone who has had the edge over Chris Gayle in Twenty 20 Cricket and it’s him who had to be the man for Hyderabad if they had to get rid of the big man early in the IPL final yesterday.

But, Bhuvi’s strategy to bowl a straight line to Gayle was not understandable as all the success he had had against the leftie opener had come by bowling at the off stump channel.

Gayle’s tendency to keep his right foot planted at its initial position and not move it at all, makes him vulnerable to every bowler who can seam it away from him or even create a natural angle as he just throws his hands at such deliveries and while, it generally makes him a leading candidate to edge it behind, he sometimes plays it on the sticks too if the surface is not offering a great deal of speed to the ball after pitching.

So, it was that line Bhuvi should have been eyeing, but, for a surprise, he was hell bent at bowling it on the pads of Gayle, keeping it a tad shorter of the length and other than him, his new ball partner Sran was erring on the same side too and that was purely negative bowling.

Jasprit Bumrah became Star after Series with Australia

Jasprit Bumrah was not even in the original squad that India had named for the Australia limited-over tour, but, when the tour came to an end, he was almost a star.

The right arm fast bowler got the ball talking in Australia as he emerged as India’s highest wicket taker in the T20 series

He bowled yorkers in almost every game and what had been India’s main problem in the past, to leak runs in the death, he reduced that to a large extent along with the veteran Ashish Nehra.

Some of the Aussie batsmen had already played Bumrah in the Indian Premier League. So, the 22-year old was no mystery to them, but, still, he has that sort of action that no matter how many times you have played him in the past, he is still going to be tough for you to deal with.

Bumrah’s action is pretty unorthodox. His arms seem to be all over the place when he gets into the position to deliver the ball and as a batsman, it’s tricky to pick the length. Read more »

It seems there is not a perfect understanding between the Indian selectors

It seems there is not a perfect understanding between the Indian selectors and MS Dhoni in regards to fast bowling.

While, Dhoni is keen on the fact that the skilful bowlers should be given more exposure, the selectors want to back the speed.

The test squad that has been announced for the away Sri Lanka series includes the likes of Umesh Yadav and Varun Aaron.

Umesh and Varun are, by no means, less talented than the other names in the Indian pace stocks, but, in the games that they have played so far, they have been quite erratic.

And, that’s why in Bangladesh, Dhoni, went public in expressing his disappointment at the development of those guys as fast bowlers.

Although, Dhoni did not directly take a dig at anyone, but, he did say a couple of times in that particular press conference that in the future he would like to see skill being given more preference over pace.

But, the way the selectors have again showed their confidence in genuine speed, one can assume that they do not quite agree with Dhoni on that front.

It was even asked to Sandeep Patil, the chairman of the BCCI selection committee, what he would like to make of Dhoni’s statements that he made in Bangladesh.

Replying to that, Patil hinted that he and his colleagues still have their faith intact in Umesh and Varun and regardless of what Dhoni said, these two guys are going to get more opportunities in future. Read more »
