Youth XI makes it two Win in a row against BEC United

Saturday 19 June 2010: Youth XI won their second consecutive match in the on going super league against lowly BEC United. After BEC United won the toss the put Youth XI to bat and made an impressive total score of 281 all out in 38.3 overs. Dawa and Prakash were the highest run contributors from Youth XI with 50 runs from 38 balls and Prakash coming at seven down contributed 57 runs from 32 balls. The top order batsmen of Youth XI could only manage to put on 50 runs and rest came from the lower order batsmen. BEC United gave away 32 runs to the total of 281 for Youth XI team. Bhagawanath of BEC United was the highest wicket taker with 4 wickets for 62 runs in 7 overs. In the second innings of the match BEC United started with an opening partnership of 58 runs in 11 overs but they lost karma at 30 runs was bowled-out in prakash’s fourth ball of third over.

BEC United had the chance of chasing down the target at one stage when the Youth XI bowler gave away too many extras but their batsmen gave away easy wicket. When off spinner Raj Kumar was introduced, he wraped up the match by taking 6 wickets and only conceding 38 runs in his spell of 7.3 overs. “It could have been better if our batsmen could have played more overs” said the captain of BEC united. This is the first match of BEC united where Youth XI is already making place in semi by winning two straight matches in a bigger margin.Youth XI still have to play two matches to confirm their seat in semi and BEC United are left with 3 more matches which they have to win all to make it into the semi final. “I think we can qualify for semi by looking at our performances but I know it will be tougher because most of the strong teams are in group A except for Bhutan Telecom” said the captain of Youth XI. Man of the match was awarded to Raj Kumar of Youth XI with his 6 wickets halt and 19 runs.
