BTCL wins against Pung Dzong by Duckworth lewis Method

BTCL’s second victory against Pung Dzong CC by 53 runs was the first to be decided on D/L methods after the rain interrupted the match on 24 overs of the Pung Dzong innings
Three BTCL player scored 50 plus runs to take the total to 322 in 48.3 overs, the highest so far in the league.
BTCL inning started when they won the toss and elected to bat and their openers started with flier as the run came from both bat and extras, at the end of 5 overs BTCL were 40 runs with loss of no wickets. The first wicket fell when batsmen Ugyen Dorji was bowled in 6 overs of Guribqal.

BTCL lost their another wicket of Tenzin in 9 overs when the score was 68 runs, and then Thinley came and set a partnership of 46 runs with opener Tandin Wangchuk who also made his first 50 runs in 44 balls. Tandin was caught at cover when he tried to go for big of Susil’s flighted ball. ”I still regret for bad shot I played and I will not make this mistake again” said Tandin Wangchuk.

BTCL was 121 runs for 4 wickets in 19 overs when Barun was sent in to increase the runs on the score board but felt to do so when he got one six and went out LBW of Susil’s flipper. Phuntsho Wangdi the skipper started off where he left from first match to score and sensible knock of 87 runs of 68 balls and also built a highest runs partnership of 160 with Thinley wangchuk who also came up with half century in 37 overs (56 runs of 77 balls), his knock was full of concentration, fluency and the most of all the flawless flair from his bat whom everyone in the BTCL dressing room can expect big shot.

“I am happy for the runs that I contributed but more than that the partnership with Tandin and Phuntsho which let my team score reached 322 runs was more special” said Thinley the wicket keeper batsmen. Alagapa and Susil of Pung Dzong took 4 wickets each.
Pung Dzong chase begin with Susil who batted at number 6 in the last match was send with Shamin to open. The first wicket fell of Susil when he was caught at mid-on by Tandin in Ugyen’s bowl and at that time team total runs was 18, Shamin at other end decided to attack the BTCL bowler and keeping in mind to chase down the the target, He scored 55 runs of 36 balls.

Prakash and Guriqbal played a sensible batting which let their team total to 177 for 5 in 22 overs. Guriqbal share the honor with Barun for scoring fastest fifty in the league, Guriqbal hammered both spinners of BTCL Phuntsho Wangdi and Tandi Wangchuk to reach 57 runs from 22 balls, he was caught at mid-on by Jigme Norbu of Tandin ball which was an relief for the BTCL player.

Rain started pouring on the 22nd overs when Pung Dzong were 177 runs for 5 wickets down and the game was stopped at 24 overs when it started raining heavily. BTCL grab two important wickets of Pung Dzong before Umpires called the match off, pung dzong were 183 runs for 7 wickets in 24 overs. Later on Match Referee D.S.Gurung and Umpires found that it was not possible to resume the match and due to poor ground and pitch condition and under D/L Method, BTCL have won it by 55 runs.

The Player of the match was awarded to Tandin Wangchuk for scoring 50 runs with 3 vital wickets taken. Pung Dzong will face Rigsum CC next week which will be the important match for both teams to battle for the seat in semi final.
