BTCL Win Their First Game Against Drupchu XI

Drubchu XI is out of the tournament however they have one more match to play against Rigsum CC next week. It shall not bring any hope for them to be in the top four. Drubchu faced BTCL yesterday which was vital game for them that would bring hope of surviving in this competition but BTCL was excessively good to register their first win.

BTCL won the toss and elected to bat first. BTCL scored 217 runs in 32 overs and 41 runs came from extras. BTCL’s Phuntsho Wangdi was the highest scorer of 72 runs from 74 balls. Barun Wakhley who came at number nine was the Master blaster of the match by scoring first fastest fifty; he reached 50 runs in 18 balls but the total he scored was 59 runs from just 23 balls. Drubchu bowled economically well in the first hour of the match when BTCL was 52 for 4 wickets down. But when Thinley came to bat at number six, he and Phuntsho made a partnership of 60 runs which took the team’s total score to 112 runs, and then Thinley’s inning came to an end when he was caught and bowled by Raju.

Phuntsho was bowled by Keshap when he was at his best (72 runs) and they lost another two quick wickets of Tshering Tashi and Tenzin with just 9 runs added by them on the board. Barun who is not a genuine batsman came when BTCL was at 146 runs for 7 and started with wobbly back foot shot. However, after getting his first boundary with straight drive, he counter attacked the bowlers by hitting a six and four immediately.

Barun then hit three sixes and eight fours and then was caught at cover in Norbu’s bowl “My intention was to add more runs on the board and I did it” said Barun. Yeshi was the highest wicket taker from Drubchu’s by taking 3 for 42.

In second inning of the match Drubchu XI was all out for 82 runs in 16 overs . Drubchu ’s openers started well but due to lack of match intelligence they were uncomfortable to keep their wickets. BTCL started with pace attack Barun and Ugyen, while Barun became so problematic to their own team as he bowled 30 balls in his two overs spell without taking any wicket. Ugyen took the first wicket of Drubchu’s opener Keshap when they were 24 runs on the board.

After spinner Tandin along with Phuntsho was introduced in fifth over. Drubchu lost 8 wickets in 16 overs. Tandin took 5 for 26 and Phuntsho took 3 for 2 runs.”Tandin and I, both of us had bowled many overs in International level; I think we know how to build partnership and put pressure on batsmen” said by captain Phuntsho. Drubchu’s Dawa was the only batsmen to score highest runs of 13.
