Gelephu Schools Ready for School Tournament
The Schools of Gelephu and Sarpang District will have their own schools cricket competition played very soon. The Two ground of Gelephu Lower Secondary School will host the inter school cricket tournament after the board resurfaced the ground into a clean green and a center wicket perfectly fit for a matting. The ground was renovated with the grass mowed and center wicket dug and a mixture of red soil and clay together to have a right kind of pitch for the school tournament.
The preparation of the ground has not been that easy with tall and bush grown and the ground uneven made it hard for the mower to move around. The board ground development team worked through the stages as the center wicket was dig first and then soil added on top with level throughout. A roller was used for the compaction of the Pitch too.
The two existing practice concrete wickets were renovated as well and new netting was put on to enable the student to get a good base for a practice of cricket shots. With the emergence of the new playing field in the Gelephu lower Schools more and more kids are into the cricket which is a good sign said District Education officer.
