Bhutan Umpires Conduct Umpiring Course
Bhutan Cricket first ever Umpiring course was held in Paro district which had 8 paro district teacher participating and 12 trainees from National Institute of Education of which 3 were womens. The course was conducted by Umpire Dorji along with Coach Tobgay and Sonam Phuntsho, the paro District Coaching Coordinator, Dorji has been the most experienced Umpire who have Umpire in the ACC International Matches and did Level II Accredited Umpiring Course in Malaysia.
The Course was just to enhanced the Cricket Knowledge and umpiring skills to the school teacher, 4 hours of theory class where all 42 laws of the cricket were briefly explained, question and answer session were kept for an hour where the teacher came up with doubts. Practical session for the participant were done in the Afternoon where the resource person explained the sign and signal for the umpires on the field and then the participant were sent in pairs to officiate the match.
After the course, The participant were also taught basic cricket for an hour where they were taught the batting and bowling drills.The Participant thank the Course presenter for the show and were very keen in the cricket. The Participant were distributed with Umpiring Hand as well.

“The course was very informative and without the basic understanding of the cricket game and rule we won’t be able to teach the student and play tournament ” remarks Drugyel high school games teacher. This was the first kind of Umpiring Course organized by Bhutan Cricket and were conducted by Bhutanese Umpires. Such kind of Umpiring course will be conducted in other District as well.
