Bhutan Cricket Coaches hands coaching course to school teacher and student

Bhutan Cricket coaching coordinator Damber Singh Gurung and Assistant Coaching coordinator Tshering Dorji are on 15 days tour to Saprang District to Conduct Level “O” coaching course and cricket development session in the District. Saprang District being border with the Indian in the south have lot of Kids Playing Cricket. As many as 1000 + kids were estimate playing cricket in a school.

Kids Playing in Sarpang DistrictThe schools teacher were given level “O” coaching course for a day where basic coaching and rules were taught, a news report from Sarpang district said that lady teacher were also involved in the cricket with 5 teacher attending the level “O” course.
The coaches will visit 15 Sarpang District school and meet with the principal and do coaching session in every school.

Similar coaching course and umpiring course will be held in Paro District in March where Local coach Tobgay Wangchuk and Paro District Coaching Coordinator sonam phuntsho who were recently back from Level I Tutor course from Malaysia. Senior Umpire Dorji will lead the Umpiring Course assist by the two coaches. The course will be conducted in the National Institute of Education where all the Paro District schools games teacher will be participating along with Teacher Trainees and Local cricket lover’s.

The Course to Benefit all the games teacher and have a good understanding of the game while coaching in the respective schools. Bhutan Cricket will be holding such course in other district as well.

Schools Tournament for Sarpand District and Paro District will commence later in the month of April- may 2007, such were the high profiles that Bhutan cricket is trying to introduce cricket in various part of the school. Thimphu being the capital city and mostly populated, various ages group for schools tournament and club tournament to boost the cricket standard of the Bhutan Cricket.

Gelephu School GroundBhutan cricket with the help of Department of Youth and Culture will be trying to get a land for cricket in Gelephu where a international size cricket ground will be developed for the cricket coaching and tournament. Gelephu Being in th hotter region as comparable to other cricket playing nation of Asia, it would be an ideal place to do training and held tournament.

The calm and quite country with hlls and mountain mostly covering the area, cricket still thrives as the most active sporting activities in the Bhutan compared to Football , the number one sports for the Bhutanese people and Archery being the National Games of Bhutan.
