BCCB on go for Ground Infrastructures in Bhutan
With limited facilities to the cricket in Bhutan, the BCCB is working towards it’s first project in building ground and nets facilities in four districts of Bhutan, Sarpang, Wangdue, Punakha and Paro dzongkhag where BCCB is taking keen interest in promoting cricket. Sarpang has already been on spotlight of cricket activities during the tenure of former Development Officer of Bhutan Roger Binny when his visit created a waves of enthusiasm amongst the young kids and student. Since then, Sarpang District have provide players for Junior National team and women cricket team for Bhutan Cricket. BCCB next step is to take Punakha and Wangdue district where the schools and teacher have shown great interest in promoting the games.

The Facilitation for this district school ground was funded directly by Asian Cricket Council. After the visit of ACC Development Manager Bandula Warnapurna in Bhutan in March 2010, bhutan are given go for the construction of nets facilities and providing of synthetic matting for Ugyen Academy School in Punakha and Bajothang Higher Secondary School in Wangduephodrang.

Bhutan has also been faced with the limited facilities amongst the school where development of cricket is being halted. With such facilities in the school, cricket playing will increase drastically and more players will be available for the National team at various Age level.

Off recently, BCCB CEO Jigme N Norbu, National Curator Ugyen Dorji and Sarpang District Coordination Tshering Dorji have paid a three-day visit to Sarpang and also to Punaka District to assess ground conditions and identify suitable place for construction of practice wickets.
