Thimphu XI Takes Revenge on Assam Xi
The all important toss made hard for the Assam XI batsmen as they were given a revenge of the Last match, Thimphu XI skipper Jigme Singye after winning the toss didn’t hesitate to bowl first in over cast and humid weather condition as Thimphu XI strikes early in the overs to take the prize wicket of Parmeswar who was run out by Dilip Kumar Subba after a mix up with his team mate Derhwhat who called for a single run.
The Opening bowler Tandin Wangchuk got his wicket after he was hit for a four of the back foot by Derhwaty, the scoreboard was 9. Assam Captain Promoted up the order and came at the fall of 1st wicket but was sent back to pavilion after facing a ball off the bowling of Tandin Wangchuk, Pema Thinley taking a simple catch in mid wicket. Assam Top order couldn’t resist the sheer pace and line of Thimphu XI batsmen as top 5 Assam Batsmen just contributed 22 runs putting themselves under severe pressure.
The hero of the Match Pema Thinley with 4 wickets of Assam XI bowled with superb line and length, Pema Thinley made hard for the batsmen to play the shot with his swing and the ball movement in humid condition. The fielding of the Thimphu XI has been excellent through out the match as they put pressure on Assam XI team. Rana Brahma was the only batsmen who made double figure, apparently his 10 runs was the highest by the Assam XI Batsmen.
It was the bowler day and a Pema Thinly 4 wicket for 3 runs in 4 over was awarded the Man of The Match trophy. Tandin Wangchuk taking three top order Assam Batsmen deserved all the Applauds from the Team mates. Assam were all out for 62 runs in 18 overs.
Thimphu XI started well in the beginning of the innings as they Tandin Wangchuk was sent to open with Bikash Gurung, Tandin hit two beautiful cover drive in the first over. Assam Opening bowler strike early on removing Bikash Sharma Luitel caught and ball by Rana, Tashi has been playing well but was back to pavilion shortly after a mix up with Tandin Wangchuk.
Three Top order batsmen back to pavilion and score at 25, Skipper Jigme Singye lead his team with a six and a four of the Herojit bowling to take the score to 50 and with just 13 runs to win, he along with Monaj Adhikar carried the team home, their running and the calling has been excellent, Assam XI captain introduced himself into the attack and a mix up nearly cost Monaj his wicket. 5 runs to win and singles taken after each ball, the score tied at the end of 13 overs, Monaj could hit the wining run for his team as he was Trapped LBW, a wide next ball gave Thimphu XI a victory and winning by 7 wickets. The final will be played on the 15th July 2007 between Thimphu XI vs Assam XI.
