The weather was perfect for a final showdown,BTCL opted to bat. Rigsum had made a whirlwind start, reducing BTCL to 30 for two wickets, before opener Tandin and wicketkeeper batsman Thinley helped to steady the ship. Thinley was caught at 24 that brought captain Phuntsho to the centre.

Tandin Wangchuk looked in good touch; timing the ball well but unfortunately a mix up between the two batsmen got him run out at 37, and it seemed all over for BTCL. Tenzin and Jigme added a valuable 40 runs to take the score to 158.

BT Tandin Wangchuk With early Breakthrough

BT bowlers shattered Youth XI batsmen to ensure berth in semi final with six wickets win at Jigmethang. Youth XI won the toss and opted to bat first. Youth XI batsmen just added 97 runs from the bat and 12 runs coming from extra to set a target of 109 runs on the board playing only 18.2 overs. Youth XI lost 7 wickets in 55 runs but later when Rafikal was send in number nine, added quick fire of 42 runs from 22 balls but an in-swing yorker of Tashi’s bowl sent him on his way for 42 runs.

Vibes whitewashed the BEC united by comprehensive eight wicket win to mark the first win of the tournament. BEC united opted to bat first after winning the toss but the decision proved expensive as the Vibes bowler took wicket in the regular interval.

Sherub with early wicket

Rigsum CC versus Pung Dzong CC played important match of their tournament on 29 June 2010 at Jigmethang ground to book a seat in semi final along with BTCL. Pung Dzong CC won the toss and elected to field first. Due to rain, 30 overs match was scheduled. Rigsum openers couldn’t do that much this time when they lost their wickets just adding 17 runs on the score board but it was Thinley and Captain Sonam who added 116 runs to lead their total to 193 runs in 27.4 overs.

Bhutan Cricket U16 National Team announced it’s 14 players who will be participating in the ACC U16 Challenge Cup 2010 to be held in Penang, Malaysia from 12th to 19 July 2010. The 14 Players comprises mostly student from Thimphu District and Gelephu Dungkhag in Sarpang District, Coached by Mr. Ugyen Dorji CA/ACC Level II Certified.

Bhutan Telecom (BT) batsman Jigme Singye set a new record on Saturday, hammering the highest individual score of 171 runs of 128 balls against Druk Trowa & Himalayan Adventures in the ongoing BCCB super league cricket tournament.

Bhutan cricket had to wait nearly eight years to see a batsman pass the previous highest score of 118 runs. The previous best mark was set by Tshering Dorji of Friends United.

Saturday 19 June 2010: Youth XI won their second consecutive match in the on going super league against lowly BEC United. After BEC United won the toss the put Youth XI to bat and made an impressive total score of 281 all out in 38.3 overs. Dawa and Prakash were the highest run contributors from Youth XI with 50 runs from 38 balls and Prakash coming at seven down contributed 57 runs from 32 balls. The top order batsmen of Youth XI could only manage to put on 50 runs and rest came from the lower order batsmen. BEC United gave away 32 runs to the total of 281 for Youth XI team. Bhagawanath of BEC United was the highest wicket taker with 4 wickets for 62 runs in 7 overs. In the second innings of the match BEC United started with an opening partnership of 58 runs in 11 overs but they lost karma at 30 runs was bowled-out in prakash’s fourth ball of third over.
