Thimphu School Tournament ends

Trophy_DisplayedThe Month Long Thimphu District Schools cricket tournament ended with Motithang Higher Secondary School the winner in the Senior category and Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School champion in the Junior Category, the Tournament which is Organized by the Games and Sports Division in association with Bhutan cricket had had 4 schools from the Thimphu District participating.

Great_attemptThe Tournament is divided into Senior Category and Junior Category where class 9 & 10 are group into Senior and class 7 & 8 into Junior Category. The Tournament started on the 22nd April 2007 and played final on 20th May 2007, all the matches were played in the Thimphu Cricket ground. The Schools participating are Motithang Higher Secondary School, Yangchenphu Higher Secondary School, Khasadrapchu Middle Secondary School and Dechencholling Middle Secondary School. With Experience players in the Yangchenphu and Motithang, they edge past the Khasadrapchu and Dechencholling School in the final.

Pema BowlingThe Tournament saw the emergence of new talents from all the school as they were literally exposed to the cricketing world with brilliant batting and bowling performance shown by the school players. The Final match saw the tense situation in both the category as in the senior category, Motithang after winning the toss elected to bat first in perfect sunny weather in the morning to put on a decent total for the experienced Yangchenphu School filled with most of the under-15 national players. Youth11 Clinch Second Spot From Bhutan Telecom

In what would have been an encounter for the second place in the Zimdra Vanaspati Cup 2006, played yesterday in Thimphu Cricket Ground Between Youth11 and Bhutan Telecom, Youth11 won the Match comfortable by 74 runs to clinch the second position behind Friend United. Youth11 opted to Bat first after winning the toss started brilliantly when opening Batsmen Tashi scored his Maiden Half Century, his inning was all composed with some beautiful cover drive, full shot, and leg glance, he added 100 odd runs partnership with Dorji Dakpa for third wicket and another 30 runs with Ganga , (more…)

Bhutan Times Suffered yet another Blow

SOnam Tobgay bowled by AshishBhutan Times after two heavy defeat from Bhutan Telecom and Friend’s United suffered yet another defeat from the hands of Youth11, Bhutan Times after winning the toss send their opposing to bat first in due outfield, Ashish the Bhutan Times Skipper decision paid off when he bowled magic spell to rattle the Youth11 top order batsmen taking 5 wickets haul for 18 runs.Youth11 were under sever pressure when the score was just 33 on the board with six wicket down, Skipper Subash and Dilip Kumar stick in the center to add 40 runs partnership to take the score to 88 when subash was caught behind chasing wide delivery. Bhutan Times bowler Dawa compliment Skipper Ashish to wrap up the tail ender with three wicket, Youth11 were all out for 105 runs in 33 overs. Bhutan Times fielding was backed by brilliant run out but let down by extras which cost them the match. (more…)

Friend’s United Mauled Bhutan Times

damber-singh-gurung.JPGAs the 3rd week of Zimdra Vanaspati underway yesterday with Friend’s United Taking on Bhutan Times Club In Changlimithang Cricket Ground.Friend’s united after winning the toss elected to bat first with opening pair Ugyen Dorji and Tobgay gave a good start for their opening partnership of 73 runs, they worked the ball well in and around the ground with some besutiful drive and pull shot. IMTRAT Team Walk over the Match against Youth11

The match between IMTRAT and Youth11 today saw not a single ball been ball as an official statement from IMTRAT Team said that their team are unable to participate due to unavailabilty of full strength team. This gave Youth11 much need 2 points.
The next league match will be played on 4th November 2006 between Friend’s United and Bhutan Times, on 5th November 2006, Bhutan Times yet again takes on Youth 11.

Friend United Beat Bhutan Telecom by 26 runs.

Friend's United Tsherin dorji hit straight drive.Friend’s United Scores vital two points after beating Bhutan telecom today which is played in the Chanlgimithang Cricket Ground, after winning the toss Friend’s united skipper Ugyen Tenzin decided to bat first in bright sunny day, opener Sanjivian and Phub Dorji worked the ball in singles and two’s for their 20 odd partnership, Pema Wangchuk then send back Snajivian after scoring 7 runs, to introduce Damber Singh gurung in the Middle, he couldn’t last long as Pema Wangchuk struck once more for a simple catch to short cover. Tshering Dorji along with Phub Dorji add 20 mores runs when Checnho Dorji struck to send back Phub Dorji, usual opening batsmen Ugyen Dorji walk into middle when the score was 55 on the board, he couldn’t do much to the score and was run out, as the middle order batsmen collapsed. Bhutan Telecom playesr Sonam Jamtsho Check the scoreThe Second week of Zimdra Vanaspati Cup 2006 saw a draw match due to the rain between Bhutan Telecom and IMTRAT played at Thimphu Cricket Ground on 22nd October 2006, as the match was started late due to unavoidable weather condition, IMTRAT after winning the toss elected to bat first in sunny day, their openning batsmen started well in the beginning of the innings as Telecom Bowler didn’t bowl to line and length and conceding too many extras as well.
