Bhutan Tourism to Support Cricket Board

This is the first time a sporting body is being helped by a private organisation. The future of Bhutanese cricket received a helping hand with the Bhutan Tourism Corporation Limited (BTCL) signing an agreement with Bhutan Cricket Council Board (BCCB) yesterday to support the council with Nu 100,000 for three years.

ACC Twenty20 Fixture released

Bhutan are grouped in Pool B along with host Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia in the ACC Twenty20 Cup to be held in Nepal. Group A consist of Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, Kuwait and Maldives.

The tournament forms part of the qualifying process for ICC World Twenty20 2012 in Sri Lanka. The top three teams, other than Afghanistan, from this competition join the top six Associate and Affiliate teams with ODI status from 2009-2012 namely Afghanistan, Canada, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands and Scotland in the 16-team ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier to be played in the UAE in early 2012. The other regional teams in the qualifier will be Europe (2), Africa (2), Americas (2) and East Asia – Pacific (1).

ACC CDO Rumesh Ratnayaka was in Bhutan

Asian Cricket Council Development Officer Rumesh Joseph Ratnayaka was in kingdom for country assignment, during his stay he was working closely with the local coaches and administration towards the development plan and program for the Bhutan cricket. He shared some of his cricketing knowledge with the U-19 Boys who are going vigorous training in Thimphu for the up coming ACC U-19 Challenge Cup 2011 to be held in Penang, Malaysia later in July. He had a session with U-19 Boys team where he did the match situation scenario at Jigmethang Ground and the boys loved thoroughly.

Rumesh Ratnayaka shares bowling tips to young Bhutanese U-19 Players

BCCB presented developing program for new coaches with Rumesh and he will be putting up the proposal with ACC for approval. He was impressed with Bhutan Cricket and asked the administration to develop coaches so that they can in-return develop new players. He will make another visit on September for Level 1 Coaching Course only if level 0 coaches are ready for the course.

BCCB Level 0 Coaching Course, 2-3 April 2011,Thimphu

Thimphu school gets more cricket coaches as the cricket board has successfully completed level O coaching course in the capital. It’s been almost five year since the Bhutan cricket conducted the last level O course in Thimphu. In the two day course 17 teachers (3 females & 14 male) participated but still four teachers were could not take part in the course.

Paro Umpires get a boost

The Bhutan Cricket Council Board’s Level-O (Level Zero) course on umpiring started at the Paro College of Education (PCE) in Paro today. 10 male and 4 female trainees of PCE are taking part in the two-day course. It is aimed at preparing them as umpires for the for the up-coming school and club tournaments.

Refresher Course for Level O Coaches in Punakha District

Bhutan cricket council board conducted refresher course for level O coaches in Punakha which was attended by games teachers from various school in Punakha and Wangdue Dzongkhags. The main objective of the refresher course was to revitalize and revamp the technical aspects of the game to those teachers which had already taken part in the level O coaching camp last year.
