Ugyen Academy Twenty 20 Concludes Yesterday

The Ugyen Academy Twenty 20 Coronation Cup Concluded yesterday, Roger Binny the Asian Cricket Council development Officer was the Chief Guest for the Finale Match played between Yeedzin Cricket Club and CNR (College of Natural Resource). Yeedzin Cricket Club won the Final by 4 Wickets. CNR Batting first made a comparative total of 110 with 80 extras conceded by Yeedzin Cricket Club. In reply to their total Yeedzin reached the target in 14 overs after a blistering start from the Openers and a match winning performance by Skipper Phuntsho Wangdi who hit massive 3 Sixes in a Over, already he scalped 4 CNR wickets while fielding.

A Total of 5 Team participated in the Tournament. During the prize distribution ceremony, Roger Binny said that he is Impressed with the growing popularity of the cricket in Bhutan as he said that he saw few kids with wooden bats and ball playing along the roadside. He also Mention that Bhutan Cricket would grow into a better cricketing team in the near future to compete with the best Associate members of the Asian cricket Council.

Roger Binny on Country Assignment

Asian cricket Council Development Officer Mr Roger Binny is on 5 Days Visit to Bhutan for Country Development assignment, during his stay in Bhutan, Roger Binny will be holding coaching development session with the Bhutan under-19 Women’s Team. He will be also discussing the Program and other Cricket Related matter with the Board official.

On Sunday, Roger Binny will be in Punkaha district to witness the Final of UA Twenty 20 Final.

Private School To Starts Twenty 20 Tournament

Ugyen Academy a Private School in Punakha District which is about 80 KM from The Capital Thimphu and in association with Bhutan Cricket Council Board will be organizing the Twenty20 Tournament which will kick off on 7th September 2008. The Tournament is Known as “UA Twenty20 Cornonation Cup“. 5 Teams will be participating with a Team from The Board representing Bhutan cricket. The matches will be played in the School Football Ground on Coir Matting. Umpires will be provided by Bhutan Cricket Council Board.

Boys Tournament Underway in Thimphu

The Boys Tournament has already started in Thimphu for Junior Category and Sub Junior Category where Junior Category include Class 7 and Class 8 Student Where as Sub Junior Category Includes Class 4 to Class 6 Student. Eight School are Participating in the Tournament and are played every Saturday and Sunday in Dechencholing Ground.

Changangkha Lower Secondary School and Dechencholing School Meet in the First Semi Final After Changangkha Lower Secondary Defeated Zilukha Lower Secondary School Yesterday. Changbandu Lower Secondary Sub Junior Team Advanced to Semi Final after defeating Loseling Lower Secondary School.

Roger Binny Imparts Cricket Skills to Thimphu School Girls

Roger Binny conducted a coaching session during his latest visit as the country development officer but it was a different session from all previous sessions and this group comprised of only girls. They were put through various drills and Roger was assisted by the local coaches in the three hour long session. Bhutan cricket has introduced women’s cricket in the districts of Thimphu and Sarpang.

Senior National Cricketer Hands Coaching in Kanglung

The Coaching camp is part of Bhutan Cricket program where Local Coaches and Senior players undertake the Coaching Camp in Various parts of the Country and School. “There are Not Many Interested in the Cricket game But those who Play are A keen Lover of cricket” Siad Lobzang Youten.

In Meanwhile, The Eastern Dzongkhag Yearly Cricket Tournament will be played soon, news reported by the Monaj Adhikari

Bhutan Under-15 and under-19 Prepares for ACC Tournament

coachdamberBhutan will take part in the Asian Cricket Council Under-15 Challenge Cup to be held in Bangkok in December 2007.

Bhutan has confirm it’s participation in the tournament though it has qualify to play in the Elite Cup, when Bhutan Cricket Withdraw with the School exam begins in the November and there are hardly any chance of players available to play in the Elite Cup. “But we will compete in the ACC Under-15 Challenge Tournament which will be held in December, in Thailand” Said Damber Singh Gurung, Under -15 Coach. The Tournament will commence from 8 December and will end on 16 December. 8 Nation will participate in the Tournament, Bhutan China, Maldives, Brunei, Myanmar, Iran, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
The Preparation Camp has already started in the Thimphu where the Boys are Given Training in Morning and evening after the school hours. One or two Players will be selected from the other Districts where local coaches are sent to prepare for the players, Said Damber Singh Gurung.

In Meanwhile, Under-19 Coaching Camp has also underway as Bhutan Prepares for the Up Coming Under-19 ACC Challenge Cup to be held in Thailand in 2008. The Tournament begins on 11th January and Ends on 19th January 2008. The Participants Nations are Bhutan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Iran, Brunei, Bhutan, China and Myanmar. Bhutan Cricket is prepared for a Tough Game and is really looking forward to make a Big Impression in the Tournament with Players Literally Prepared and focus on the Tournament. “We have a chance of Making to the Final” Said Tandin Wangchuk. With Neighboring Country India Winning the World Twenty20 World Cup a Week before, Bhutanese players are determined to mark and impression.

Bhutanese Cricketer Get Scholarship in Thailand

Prem Center International School (www.premcenter.org), Chang Mai, Thailand. in Association with Bhutan Cricket offered Scholarship to Jigme Singye the Under-15 National Skipper and became the first Bhutanese Cricketer to be offered the Scholarship from Foreign School. His captaincy and Impressive all round performance during the ACC Challenge Cup 2006 Held in Bangkok, Thailand. He will studying there for three years and will take up the cricket coaching skills from the Academy. Jigme Singye has been the most successful captain of Bhutan and at the age of 15 his international and domestic records has been the highlight. His International debut came in 2005 where he represented Bhutan in ACC Under-17 Trophy Held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, He played for Senior national team during ACC Trophy 2006 Held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where he became second Player to take Five wicket Hauls against Myanmar, the First being Tandin Wangchuk. His Biggest Achievement came when he led Bhutan Under-15 National team to Final during ACC Challenge Cup 2006 held in Thailand where Bhutan stood runner’s up, in home he led Thimphu XI Under-19 team to Triumph in the Last Shangri-la Cup held in Gelephu 2007.

Assessment for Samtse District

Bhutan MapBhutan Cricket Coaches will be heading towards Samtse Districts tomorrow for District assessment, Mr Asish Chettri the Executive Board Member and Assistant Coaching Co-ordinator Mr Tshering Dorji, The main aim of the Assessment is to introduced the cricket in the cricket in the school and Institutes. They will meet with the Samtse District Education Officer and school head where they will discussed about promotion of cricket in the School.The assesment is part of Bhutan cricket development program before introduction of cricket.
