Fixture for ACC U-16 Challenge Cup 2010

Bhutan is grouped alongside Afghanistan, Maldives and Brunei in the ACC U-16 Challenge Cup 2010 to be held in Penang, Malaysia from 11th to 19th July 2010.

Bhutanese Under-16 players are still practicing hard for the tournament, BCCB will soon announce the final 14 players after the ACC Age Verification Programe result.

BCCB on go for Ground Infrastructures in Bhutan

With limited facilities to the cricket in Bhutan, the BCCB is working towards it’s first project in building ground and nets facilities in four districts of Bhutan, Sarpang, Wangdue, Punakha and Paro dzongkhag where BCCB is taking keen interest in promoting cricket. Sarpang has already been on spotlight of cricket activities during the tenure of former Development Officer of Bhutan Roger Binny when his visit created a waves of enthusiasm amongst the young kids and student. Since then, Sarpang District have provide players for Junior National team and women cricket team for Bhutan Cricket. BCCB next step is to take Punakha and Wangdue district where the schools and teacher have shown great interest in promoting the games.

Bhutan Cricket will be conducting Cricket Tournament for the senior mens side later this month in the Capital City Thimphu. The tournament will be 50 overs a side and will be played exclusively on coir matting wicket at Dechencholing ground. BCCB hopes to have an attractive cash prize provided the sponsorship deals come through.

The BCCB hope to get about more clubs participating in the tournament and buzz has already started in Thimphu amongst the cricket lovers. The BCCB hopes that this will provide a platform for upcoming cricketers to showcase their talents.
