After introducing school cricket in paro district three years back, the players, teacher had sigh of relief when Bhutan Cricket organized the 1st Paro District School Championship. The tournament should have been done before but due to lack of a proper playing surface and unavailability of coach to the school, we had a tough time and this year after being informed to school teacher who have attended the Level *O* BCCB Coaching course, they have initiated and worked really hard to form a Juniors U-13 Team,Said Sonam Phuntsho, the Paro District Cricket co-ordinator.

Tagu School Vs Khangkhu School Match

Six School are participating in the 5 and 6 Class Category Tournament which is being played in Rinpung Dzong Ground, subsequently a small ground. These Schools are divided into two Pool, A and B where in each pool three team will compete against other two team and the winner from the Pool will face in the Final. In the opening match played in the morning, Taju Pry School played against Khangkhu Lower Secondary School, Taju won by three wicket after Khangkhu Batted first and were all out for 68 runs. In the Second Match Played Between Drygyel Lower Secondary School and Guapel school, Gaupel won the match by 22 runs. Gaupel batted first and made 143 runs in the 20 overs match and setting a massive target. Drugyel LS School players at one time were on upper edge when their opening batsmen hit consecutive boundaries in the first over and later in second over, the runs on board read 30 for 0 after 3 overs. But when the opening batsmen departed, Gaupel bowler attacked and got wicket in regular interval. With 12 Balls and 27 runs to get, Drugyel last pair couldn’t make good use of the poor bowling attack and were eventually all out for 122 in their 20 overs.

Thimphu School Kids Celebrates the ICC Centenary Year

Thimphu : Bhutan cricket joins ICC and other Cricketing Members of the world in celebrating the 100 years of cricket (Centenary Year). To commemorate this auspicious occasion bhutan cricket today organized an cricket carnival in changlimithang ground where about 300 plus kids both girls and boys and teachers from various school attended the celebration. Bhutan cricket Chief Executive officer, Development Officer, Coaches, Senior National players, Under-19 National Players and Women’s National players were also been part of the celebration where they had fun cricket session with the school kids. After three weeks of school cricket tournament, class 5 & 6 final will be played tomorrow in Dechencholing Ground where Changbandu Primary School Takes on Changangkha Lower Secondary School. The School will be represented by their teachers and it should be a good match, come tomorrow. In the Under-19 girls tournament, last years runner’s up Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School and Yangchenphug Higher Secondary School Tomorrow Afternoon and on 4th May, Defending Champion Dechencholing Middle Secondary Takes on Motithang Higher Secondary School, after the league round, top two team who finishes first and 2nd will play final. Dechencholing School and Yangchenphug School have one win each and Motithang and Lungtenzampa are yet to win a match.
