School Cricket Season Started in Bhutan

Bhutan cricket Council Board Season Cricket activities for school has already begun starting March 2009 where 8 local coaches are involved in Thimphu Dzongkhag and three local coaches in Gelephu District. The school cricket has become popular among the Thimphu dzongkhag where each of the 8 coaches are assigned to look after two schools and to form various categories of school team where they will be competing with other School.

With the increase in the Contract coaches this year the involvement of youths and student has rapidly increase compared to last year and year before. In Thimphu District alone Girls Involvement has increase tremendous and the number of playing increased to more than 400 compared to last year 60. Damber Singh Gurng the Junior Coach said that with the performance of Under-19 Woman’s in the recently Concluded ACC Under-19 Women Championship in Thailand, more girls are inspire to join cricket.
